Equal Opportunities and Diversity

This programme has been designed for elected members who are keen to develop their understanding around equal opportunities and diversity.

The course is essential for Councillors who will be involved in the recruitment and selection of senior staff, and for those who want to understand the Equality Impact Assessment implication statements within officer reports. 

Programme Objectives

By the end of this programme delegates will be able to:

  1. Define the principles of equal opportunities and diversity
  2. Explain the legal framework surrounding Equal Opportunities Including the Equality Act 2010
  3. Recognise the impact of prejudices, stereotyping, and discrimination
  4. Understand and recognise unconscious bias.
